Equality agenda must not suffer in cuts, say experts

Employers must ensure that women and minority groups do not bear the brunt of cutbacks and that the fairness agenda is maintained, panellists agreed in the CIPD�s latest podcast discussion.

Speaking in the podcast on the subject of fairness at work, Equalities Minister Lynne Featherstone said that the responsibility to make the workplace fairer lay with �all of us�.

�Government can lay out frameworks and make laws that control some parts of business but ultimately any sensible business will be doing what we are suggesting in law anyway. We know that equality in the workplace promotes better business,� she said.
