The use of the words �streamlining� and �harmonisation� may have distorted the real world affect of the new act on employers, leading to misrepresentation in the popular press.
Contrary to recent headlines, the new equality legislation does not mark a significant expansion of existing discrimination protection, either in terms of the protected characteristics or workplace actions that could give rise to a claim.
