EHRC Recommendations
The Equality Bill continues to be debated in the House of Lords and it is hoped that decisions on what is ultimately included will be finalised in the near future. Proposals to ask all large employers to report publically on their gender pay gaps remain on the table at this stage. The Equality and Human Rights Commission have now published detailed recommendations of what this would mean for employers. The full report is available for downloading or viewing on this page.
In summary, the EHRC recommend that employers publish:
* A narrative commentary explaining the context and causes of any pay gaps, and actions being taking to address them
Plus at least one of the following quantitative measures:
* The single figure difference between the median hourly earnings of men and women
* The difference between men and womens pay by grade and job type
* The difference between men and womens starting salaries
