Business in the Community welcomes the Single Equality Bill
Over the next few weeks we will be consulting BITC (Race for Opportunity and Opportunity Now) members and will work with the Government Equality Office and the Equality & Human Rights Commission to ensure that this legislation is workable.
The principles behind the Bill are right, but the detail is critical. Over simplifying the issues and cementing ideas which sound great in theory, but don�t translate into practice may well cause more problems than they solve. An open and consensual approach to reform, with employers seen as part of the solution not the problem, is the key to progress.
