Morrisons wage dispute shines light on gender pay differences

Morrisons are currently at the centre of an equal pay row with eight of their shop floor employees seeking compensation over the belief they are paid less than warehouse-based colleagues.

Multiple news agencies have reported that the workers, who are mostly women, are seeking compensation for unequal pay. It could cost the retailer a whopping £1billion if the case is successful.

A Morrisons spokesperson has admitted to receiving a letter questioning the companies pay policy. The statement stayed their aim is “to pay our colleagues fairly and equally for the job that they do, irrespective of their gender”.
