How to improve inclusion of transgender employees

A huge proportion of transgender employees have experienced some form of transphobic discrimination in the workplace – 60 per cent according to research by Totaljobs last year. These stark statistics demonstrate the importance of taking the time to recognise the achievements of people who identify as transgender, as well as the challenges they still face. So what can employers do to better support transgender colleagues in the workplace?

Lloyds Banking Group has done a lot of work to support LGBT employees and was recently named number one in the 2017 Stonewall Workplace Equality Index. While we’re still on our own journey to support our colleagues and customers, we’ve identified three key changes that organisations can make to transform their cultures so they are more inclusive of transgender employees:
